Head Coach Mike Ditka brought us our only SuperBowl win in the history of the Team in 1986 with a crushing of the Patriots in the SuperBowl. But, on today's passing of Football Icon Mike Ditka he left his impact on the game of Football in so many other ways!  He died this morning at the age of 86.

Coach Ditka would of celebrated his birthday in just 9 days on October 18th and he's a big reason why we scheduled the Sports Trivia Leagues appearance so close to Octobers 18th as we have brought Jerseys with us from that 1986 Super Bowl Team that you can win at our stops today while we are here in Chicago.

In 1986, the Cubs were struggling in the post season and trying to win a World Series which was something we had not done since the early 1900's, the White Sox were just as unlucky, the Blackhawks never won a Stanley Cup in the 1980's and had not one since 1961 while the Bulls had never won anything as Michael Jordan and group did not win a title until the next decade in 1991. So, for those of you that we around the 1986 Bears SuperBowl was it.

Ditka did so many special things. Putting the Refrigerator William Perry in the backfield, Juggling multiple Quarterbacks due to injuries, brining in Buddy Ryan to lead the 46 Defense, and much more. That 85-86 Team only lost One Game during the regular season and won the SuperBowl. The only loss was to the only team that has won every regular season game and went on to also win the Super Bowl, the Miami Dolphins.

In fact from 1985 to 1987 Coach Ditka's teams only lost a Grand Total of 3 games over the 2 years!

Coach Ditka is in both the College and NFL Hall of Fame. He play College Football at the University of Pittsburgh and he did play for the Bears, Eagles and the Cowboys in the NFL. However, his NFL Playing days are most remembered by playing Tight End for Coach Tom Landry's Dallas Cowboys. As a Rookie with the Bears Ditka had a rookie record 12 receptions in 1961, this is an NFL record that still stands and he was the first NFL Tight End to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame! He is only one of two people in NFL History to win a SuperBowl as a Player, Assistant Coach, and a Head Coach! Tom Flores is the other. He left his mark on the game as a Player, a Coach and even as a Broadcaster. It's a tough day for us all as we remember all of the special things that Coach Ditka did here in Chicago and around the League, College and even in the Media!
